ArmInfo. A new holiday will appear in Armenia - Citizens Day. The government of the Republic of Armenia approved the amendments to the law "On holidays and anniversaries" at the March 21 sitting.
RA Minister of Justice Artak Zeynalyan, who submitted the draft amendments, noted that Citizen's Day will be celebrated on the last Saturday of April, but if May 1 falls on Saturday, Citizen's Day will be celebrated on the previous Sunday of April. The minister added that the need for amendments was due to the unprecedented political events in Armenia in April 2018 and the velvet revolution that followed. He noted that, based on the need to quickly solve numerous socio-economic, legal and political problems, thousands of citizens held protests and marches for several days, putting forward their demands to the authorities, which led to the resignation of Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyan and the victory of the national movement.
