"I'm generally not against the expansion of the National Security Council and the inclusion of the President and the Speaker of Parliament, but it will not be correct in their attitude," the premier assured at a press conference.He explained that the activities of the Security Council in the Constitution are regulated by the head defining the work of the government. "If we include the President and the Speaker of Parliament in the Security Council, we will automatically lower their status to the status of members of the Cabinet. It turns out that the President and the Speaker will work in the Security Council under my leadership," the Prime Minister explained.
At the same time, as a solution to the problem, he proposed calling the speaker and the president to meetings of the Security Council as "invited guests."Touching on the recent incident with the invitation of President Armen Sargsyan to the joint session of the Security Council of Armenia and Artsakh in Stepanakert, Pashinyan explained: "The composition of the meeting was determined only late at night the day before the meeting. I tried to call the President to invite him to the meeting, however, he did not answered the calls. Then I ordered to contact the President of the RA Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan, and told him that the President could fly from Yerevan to Stepanakert on my helicopter together with Defense Minister David Tonoyan. bodies in Stepanakert the day before the meeting.
