ArmInfo. The Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) stands against the combat duty of inexperienced soldiers.
In particular, as Naira Zohrabyan, a member of the parliament from the PPA, notes, she and her colleagues prepared a draft law on amending the law "On Military Service and Status of a Soldier", which proposes that 18-year-old newly enrolled soldiers should not carry out combat duty. According to the proposed changes, only contract soldiers and experienced soldiers should carry combat duty at the forefront. The authors believe that soldiers serving for the second year should be in combat duty. At the same time, Naira Zohrabyan admits that there is an aspect to be reckoned with. "With a salary of 120-130 thousand drams, we will not be able to attract the necessary number of soldiers to the service in order to fully resolve the issue of the duty in the front line. I think we will be able to find financial means to increase salaries for contract servicemen, and this must be done promptly," she wrote , recalling the proposal of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, which he announced the day before on his Facebook page.
To recall, the head of government turned to his fellow citizens for advice, noting that today in Armenia there are 11,281 people receiving allowances, who at the same time are paying 100,000 drams or more for loans every month. "Some of them pay monthly - 100 thousand AMD, others - 400 thousand AMD, the third - a million AMD. I recall that we are talking about those people who are officially considered poor and receive from 18 thousand drams to 40 thousand drams as social support. For payment of benefits these people, as the head of the government pointed out, the state spends 4.5 billion drams annually. At the same time, as the prime minister noted, in order to increase the salaries of military personnel by 10%, 9 billion drams are required. "What do you think, dear compatriots, should these 11 thousand 281 people be deprived from these allowances or not? " wondered Nikol Pashinyan
