ArmInfo. At the invitation of the Patriarch of Jerusalem, Archbishop Nurhan Manukyan, Armenian Minister of Education and Science Arayik Harutyunyan will visit Jerusalem on a working visit on March 15-17
As the Ministry of Education and Science reported, the Armenian delegation also includes Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Defense and Security Andranik Kocharyan, Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sports Mkhitar Hayrapetyan, RA Deputy Minister of Defense Gabriel Balayan and RA Deputy Minister Lusine Arakelyan.
The visit aims at getting acquainted with the issues relating to the Congregation of Jerusalem, the preservation of the Armenian heritage, as well as reaching new agreements for the development of bilateral mutual partnership. This is the first official invitation of the Armenian Patriarchate of Jerusalem to the minister of education and science since Armenia's independence. As one of the autonomous thrones of the Armenian Apostolic Church, the Jerusalem Patriarchate did not directly cooperate with the Ministry of Education and Science. Meanwhile, it is in this region that the issues of preserving and developing Armenian identity and cultural development are very important from the point of view of the Armenian Genocide. Due to the lack of consistent and focused work for many years, Israel has accumulated a lot of unresolved problems - if there is an untapped resource of cooperation. In particular, the status of the Dwarf Storage of the Church and the Armenian School is not defined. The educational process of the school and the problem of teaching staff require urgent new solutions, the issue of the establishment of the Armenian Studies department at Tel Aviv University has matured, the issue of teaching the subject of the Armenian Genocide. All these issues are on the agenda of the visit of Minister Arayik Harutyunyan.
