ArmInfo. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received Toivo Klaara, EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the Crisis in Georgia.
Stressing the importance of continuous development of relations with the European Union and constructive dialogue in all areas, Pashinyan stressed the need for early ratification of the Comprehensive and Enlarged Partnership with the EU (CEPA) and expressed confidence that the implementation of the document will give new impetus to cooperation and contribute to the implementation of reforms in various spheres of Armenia.The head of government stressed that the government intends to carry out systemic reforms in the field of developing democracy, protecting human rights, strengthening freedom of speech and creating a fair judicial system. In this context, it is important to support the Agreement between Armenia and the EU and the effective implementation of the relevant programs.
Pashinyan noted with satisfaction that the European side has already provided a roadmap for implementing the provisional provisions of the Agreement, which will also be discussed in the near future at meetings with EU officials.The Estonian diplomat, in turn, stressed that the EU attaches great importance to expanding relations with Armenia, and expressed confidence that bilateral cooperation will develop at the expense of the provisional provisions of the agreement with the implementation of measures provided for by the aforementioned road map.During the meeting, the interlocutors discussed a number of issues related to the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Nikol Pashinyan noted that Armenia is committed to a peaceful settlement of the problem within the framework of the format of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs and attaches great importance to involving Artsakh, in particular civil society, in confidence-building measures. The Prime Minister expressed confidence that this would contribute to the formation of a constructive atmosphere in the negotiation process.Nikol Pashinyan and Toivo Klaar also exchanged views on other regional issues.
