ArmInfo. Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan who is on a working visit in Estonia met with the head of the country's parliament (Riigikogu - Red) Eiki Nestor.
According to the press service of the Foreign Ministry, during the meeting, the interlocutors agreed that there are ample opportunities for development in relations between Armenia and Estonia, in this context, emphasizing the steps that should be taken to fully realize the potential of parliamentary diplomacy. The parties noted the positive experience of cooperation in the field of information technology and culture, noting that these areas can receive new content and quality in the agenda of inter-parliamentary cooperation.
The Armenian Foreign Minister and the Chairman of the Estonian Parliament touched upon the cooperation between Armenia and the EU, in this context noting the role of the RA-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Cooperation Agreement, which opens up prospects for cooperation both in EU-Armenia relations and in relations with EU member states bilateral format. Minister Mnatsakanyan stressed the role of the Eastern Partnership as an effective platform for working together and developing cooperation towards achieving the goals set.Mnatsakanyan noted that during these months, the new government of Armenia carried out all the reforms that had been promised. In the processes taking place in the country, the Armenian Foreign Minister noted the active participation of young people, women and civil society.On the same day, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia met with the Chairman of the European Union Affairs Committee of the Riigikogu Toomas Vitsuts.
The Minister presented the recent internal political processes in Armenia to Vitsuto, emphasizing that the government's priority is to promote the national development program, which focuses on the high-tech economy and innovative approaches. In this regard, the Minister highly appreciated the exchange of views with Estonian IT companies, as well as the activation of contacts between the specialists of the two countries. After that, the Foreign Minister met with the chairman of the Armenian-Estonian parliamentary friendship group Hannes Hanso.
The interlocutors touched upon the experience and successes achieved in Armenia within the framework of the creative education program, at the TUMO Creative Technologies Center, SMART Educational Center, Dasaran.am educational platform, stressing the positive experience of the two countries and the possibility of cooperation. Mnatsakanyan also visited the e-Estonia exhibition, where he got acquainted with the achievements in the field of high technologies and e-government in Estonia.
The Minister met with representatives of leading Estonian IT companies, Software OU, Levira, Votemo, Proxpert AS, who presented their activities and innovative ideas. There was an active exchange of views between Armenian and Estonian experts on the experience and achievements of the two countries in creating a favorable environment for e-government and high technology. The possibilities of initiating joint activities were discussed. In his speech, the Armenian Foreign Minister stressed that high technology, intellectual development and the digital sphere are one of the priorities of the agenda of the Armenian government.
