ArmInfo. Russia has no right to indicate to Russia its steps with regard to the protection of its own citizens of any nationality, neither Azerbaijan nor any other  country.  Similar opinioncommenting on the reaction of the Foreign  Ministry of Azerbaijan to the statement of the Foreign Ministry of  the Russian Federation, ArmInfo expressed Vladimir Lepekhin, Director  General of the EurAsEC Institute.At her briefing on January 11,  Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova described the  detention and expulsion of Russian citizens on a national basis from  Azerbaijan as a "gross violation of their rights.

"On January 19, the press service of the Foreign Ministry of  Azerbaijan published a response statement in which it was noted that  "Azerbaijan and Russia are equal sovereign states and speak in an  ultimatum tone with Azerbaijan is unacceptable and completely  contrary to the ethical norms of diplomacy. I am  convinced that Russian and Azerbaijani diplomats will take all  necessary measures to analyze the situation, "the analyst said.

Lepekhin expressed conviction that the reaction of the Russian  Foreign Ministry as a whole fit into the mainstream of  Russian-Armenian relations, suggesting that if the problem did not  concern Armenia, it is quite possible that the Russian foreign policy  department would not have shown such responsiveness.The last case of  the detention and expulsion of Russian citizens of Armenian origin  was the situation that took place on December 29 at the Baku airport  from the civil Russia Kristina Gevorkian.
