ArmInfo. The reduction in the number of ministries and departments in Armenia is aimed at increasing the efficiency of the public administration system. This was announced on January 10 at the meeting of the RA Government by the Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
According to him, the reduction in the number of ministries is part of the election promises made by the "My Step" bloc to voters. "We do not pursue the goal of saving state funds, our task is to increase the efficiency of the ministries and departments, and we must consistently follow this course," said Nikol Pashinyan, adding that more and serious work is expected in this direction. The Acting Prime Minister stressed that numerous discussions took place in various formats regarding the reduction of state structures. Two days ago, the entire government of the country also discussed this issue. "Having received a vote of people's confidence, we will certainly listen to all opinions on the configuration of the structure of the government and take a balanced decision," the Acting head of the Armenian government stressed.
Separately, Nikol Pashinyan focused on the dissolution of the Ministry of Diaspora. "It seems that we are putting an end to work in this direction, but this is not the case. The relations of the Armenian government with the Diaspora must be raised to a qualitatively new level. In this regard, there are proposals on the model of these relations to be discussed with representatives of Diaspora organizations in to achieve a consensus. We will consistently move forward with thoughtful steps in this matter, "the Acting Prime Minister stressed.
Nikol Pashinyan expressed his gratitude to the Acting First Deputy Prime Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, Acting Minister of Culture Lilit Makunts and Acting Minister of Diaspora Mkhitar Hayrapetyan for joint work. "Today is a sad day for us. This is the last meeting of the government with their participation. From now on, they will continue their activities in the National Assembly, and I want to wish them fruitful legislative activities," the Acting Prime Minister said.
To note, the Government of Armenia plans to liquidate the Ministry of Culture, and attach one part of its departments to the Ministry of Education and Science, and the other to the City Planning Committee. What will happen to the functions of the Ministry of Diaspora is not yet known, but, as the other day Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan noted, in the functions of almost all Armenian ministries there is a component of working with the Diaspora.
To note, that months earlier one of Pashinyan's advisers declared the government's intention to reduce about 110 thousand public sector employees, against the background that in general about 160 thousand employees work in the state field. To recall, as a result of reforming the structure of the Government in Armenia, instead of 17 ministries, it is planned to leave 12.
