"During one Moscow evening, the 24-year-old Soviet weightlifter Yurik Vardanyan completely rewrote the world record table and entered the history of the Olympic Games," champion.com writes about him. <No, of course, I expected good results. For this, all conditions have been created in Moscow. I also understood that Yurik Vardanyan will probably be one of the heroes of the Olympics - we know him for a long time. But what Vardanyan did today on the platform can be called only in one word - fantastic! I don't even know how else to comment on this. These words belong to the President of the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF), Austrian Gottfried Schodl, who was usually very stingy in his emotions.
