ArmInfo.Acting Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan received the heads of the delegations that arrived in Yerevan to participate in the meeting of the Council of the heads of the penitentiary services of the CIS member states.
According to the press service of the Armenian Government, Pashinyan noted that the work of the penitentiary services is extremely important at the national, regional and international levels in terms of overcoming security challenges, ensuring the rule of law, fighting crime, and deepening cooperation within the CIS will further strengthen interstate relations.
He particularly noted the importance of continuous improvement of the work of penitentiary services and their compliance with modern criteria, exchange of experience, retraining of personnel, social reintegration of persons serving sentences in penitentiary institutions, as well as cooperation in other areas of mutual interest.
Director of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia Gennady Kornienko effectively assessed the activities of the Council of the heads of the penitentiary services of the CIS member states, as well as the activities carried out within the framework of this structure. He assured that the council will continue to work actively and record the results in the development of common policies, exchange of information and experience, improvement of work efficiency, social integration of convicts, retraining and other areas mentioned by Pashinyan.
On October 18-20, a meeting of the Council of Heads of the Prison Services of the CIS member states is held in Yerevan.
