ArmInfo. The key point of today's event is that the citizens of Armenia decided on who should be the Mayor of the capital. The Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan said this on October 13 in Yerevan at the inauguration ceremony of the Mayor of Yerevan.
"Certainly, there is a statement that during the decision-making the citizens of Armenia had a very good mood, but this does not matter. Because one day the choice can be made in a good mood, another day in usual or in a working mood. But, it doesn't matter, because once there will be good weather during elections, another time the weather will be bad, the regional situation may be favorable, or not, it doesn't matter. The key point is that the decision maker or people's right to of freedom of expression has never been questioned, " Prime Minister of Armenia said.
At the same time, he noted that our decisions often affect our mood, however, it is not the mood that is important, but the fact who is the decision maker. "And the decision will always be taken by the citizen of Armenia through elections. And this is a tradition that is established and irreversible," he said. The Armenian Prime Minister stressed that Yerevan is a powerful city and sometimes one can even get emotional of this power. In this context, he mentioned one of the key creators of the main image of Yerevan, architect Alexander Tamanyan, "who opened a new page in the history of the Armenian people, who in fact, by the will of fate, was on the verge of losing political and cultural life." According to him, Tamanyan and his colleagues provided a great renaissance for the Armenian people. Speaking about the mission of those holding any political office, Pashinyan expressed the conviction that the most important mission is not to deceive people, to be honest with them. "It's not right to think that the mayor of Yerevan or one of us will not make mistakes. It's not true, none of us are perfect, and we can be wrong, but it's important not to deceive people. It's important to understand why a mistake occurred. Our main mission is never deceive people, to be able to maintain the ability to stand in front of them, to look straight in their eyes. All the rest are technical issues that will be resolved. Another important circumstance is to retain the ability to apologize after making a mistake, "he said.
Speaking about the image of Yerevan, the Prime Minister noted that Yerevan is the center of Armenians, not only because it is the only capital of Armenians, but also because all sections of society from all parts of the country and the world live in it. He recalled that Yerevan has a long history, and in different periods there were some dominant strata, although it is not yet clear how they were chosen. Pashinyan expressed the conviction that in Yerevan should live those who respect the laws, respect each other, education, the state.
The Prime Minister of Armenia expressed hope that a new image of Armenia will become a citizen who will not think about how to avoid paying taxes. According to him, it is necessary to ensure that in the new government, the mayor's office does not have thieves who would plunder the property of the people, citizens must be convinced that their taxes are not being plundered. "Yes, there are still unreasonable expenses, this is a problem, and we have to solve it, but every citizen must treat every penny paid to the treasury the same way as his/her own saved money planned for the needs of the family. The biggest charge or a remark sent to our political team is that our team is very young. I don't know in what cases it's considered a priority when it's not, but I would like capabilities and skills of this youth never be doubted. If there is such perception, it is our omission that we have to eliminate, "the Prime Minister of Armenia said.
Pashinyan also believes that the terms "old" or "new" should not be used in politics when denying a person. According to him, this is "political racism", which should not be in Armenia. According to him, of course, the elections to the Council of Elders were of great national importance, as they laid the foundation for the process of holding early parliamentary elections. "In this process, we undoubtedly need to create a new reality, when the potential of each person, regardless of age, previous involvement should be used. We should be able to involve as many people as possible in this process", the Prime Minister of Armenia said. According to him, the main goal today is to open a new page in the history of the people, where there will be national solidarity and unity, and which will be consolidated around the fact that there should not be corruption, privileged persons in Armenia, everyone should be equal before the law, there should be no deception and disrespect. According to him, the goal of the authorities is to help citizens stand up on their legs, straighten their backs and move towards the fulfillment of the common national dream.
