ArmInfo. New Armenia deserves the most extensive support of the United States. This was stated in an interview with the Voice of America, US Congressman Jackie Spir Kanchelian.
According to her, at the level of congressmen and executive authorities there are discussions on rendering assistance to Armenia from the American Corporation "Millennium Challenges".
"This is a complicated process, it will not be easy to receive ratification of such a great help, however, I am optimistic about this," she noted.
If the Millennium Challenge Corporation will help Armenia, the country can receive about $ 100 million in aid.
According to the Congressman, the source of her optimism is the new Armenia. A citizen of Armenia who emerged from the shadow of the Soviet authoritarian and corruptive heritage through a peaceful revolution. "At first I was concerned that these events would be thrown back to Armenia, that there could be bloodshed, then I saw what was really happening, and it was a miracle." Nobody threw stones, nobody shot. "This revolution was like a holiday small children with their toys blocked the roads, all this awakened only incredibly positive emotions."
The United States is interested in Armenia's prosperity, Spir Kanchelian noted. "The United States can help Armenia to meet its energy needs independently, create new jobs, use the latest technologies," the congressman said.
"Perhaps we can send Ilona Maski, who will be able to develop the use of solar energy in Armenia and put an end to the country's dependence on energy, maybe we can send Mark Tsukenberg, who will help develop high technologies." Armenian talented young people can turn the country into a global technological center, if they are provided with these funds. "
In the coming months, Spir Kanchelian plans to bring to Armenia another group of American congressmen, and personally meet with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. "This will be a very important visit, I want to render my support to the citizens of Armenia, the new government and the new prime minister," the congressman concluded.
