ArmInfo.Armenia is going to liberalize the visa regime with India. The draft of the relevant resolution is included in the agenda of the government meeting on November 16.
According to the draft, citizens of India will be able to obtain a visa at the entrance to Armenia in accordance with the procedure approved by the RA Government on October 4, 2007 - at border checkpoints, on the electronic visa system or in diplomatic missions and consulates in foreign countries. As stated in the certificate of support to the document, the draft decision is aimed at liberalizing visa relations with India, including on a reciprocal basis. Based on the results of the decision, the growth of the tourist flow to Armenia from India, as well as the volume of mutual trade and investment, is expected. For January-September of 2017, compared with the same period last year, the number of tourists from India to Armenia increased by 168%. From January 1 to August 31, the Armenian Embassy in India provided 1695 entry visas, which is 479 more than in the same period of 2016.
"This decision comes into force on the day following the day of its official publication, and extends to legal relations that have arisen since November 22, 2017," the draft resolution says.
