ArmInfo. Armenia's President Serzh Sargsyan received Executive Director of the United Nations World Food Programme Ertharin Cousin and participants of the 18th Annual Global Child Nutrition Forum.
The press-service of the Armenian President informs that Sargsyan expressed gratitude to the organizers of the forum and particularly to Cousin for holding this significant event for the first time in the region, attended by representatives from 60 countries.
During the meeting the sides mutually expressed satisfaction with the success reached in Armenia in recent years in providing school nutrition as well as gained experience, which is according to the organizers was one of the reasons to choose Yerevan as the place for holding the event.
Sargsyan highly assessed cooperation established between the Armenian government and UN WFP and "Food for Education" program being implemented in the country, due to which 83 thousand children in 10 regions in Armenia are ensured with food in schools. The President stated that this program will be continuous in Armenia and work is being done towards this goal.
Sargsyan also stressed the importance of implementing United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The participants of the meeting expressed readiness to continue close cooperation with Armenia.
18th Annual Global Child Nutrition Forum will be held in Yerevan, Armenia from September 5 to 9, 2016.
