Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia Traian Hristea introduced the Armenia-EU cooperation report, Thursday. According to him, the financial assistance package for Armenia is currently being discussed. This year, the EU has already provided 40 million euro to Armenia, Traian Hristea said adding that the cooperation with Armenia will be continued as actively as before despite the recent trends. A new program of cooperation is currently being drafted, the ambassador said.
As for the possibility of signing the political component of the Association Agreement with Armenia, which Yerevan insisted on before and Brussels refused to do, Hristea said that the signing of the political component of the AA with Ukraine might become a precedent for Armenia. Nevertheless, he said, the Armenia-EU cooperation is developing in a different way.
Touching upon the recent attacks by Turkish terrorist bands on the Syrian town of Kessab populated with Armenians, Ambassador Hristea said that he has already informed Brussels of Armenia's concerns over those incidents.
As regards the Karabakh conflict, Hristea called the Aliyev-Sargsyan meeting in Vienna positive. EU sees resolution of the conflict through peace and within the OSCE Minsk Group, the ambassador said.
