New Armenia Front for Public Salvation demands the world community to impose sanctions of Armenia's authorities over fraud-ridden referendum and the situation in the country.
A member of New Armenia Political Council Andreas Ghukasyan told a news conference today that the world community should impose personal sanctions against the Armenian officials who are responsible for the infringed human rights, overall corruption and unexposed crimes that have been committed against the political and public forces fighting for restoration of the Constitutional order in the country since 2008.
In addition, the Front demands that the world community recognizes the existence of political prisoners in Armenia and demands that they are set free immediately. In addition, New Armenia Front demands reducing the number of police officers in the country. "Existence of 18.5 thousand police officers in Armenia proves that the government lacks public support and retains his power by force, amid external threats. Our rivals make allegations against Armenia saying it has occupied Nagorny Karabakh. They bring such arguments as Armenian soldiers serving in the Karabakh Defense Army. We believe that reduction of the Police forces and shifting to the 100% contract service in NKR is the very decision that will help Armenia avoid such allegations and secure the freedom of assembly. Civil disobedience is a legal political activity. The citizens have a right to make the government refuse from illegal actions through civil disobedience," he said.
Ghukasyan said the members of the movement urge the political and public forces to unite and join their demands.
