Tbilisi. Georgian Foreign Minister, Maia Panjikidze, termed
as 'a serious signal of support" the upcoming visit of the Polish and
Swedish Foreign Ministers a few days ahead of the presidential elections in
Georgia.
Foreign Ministers of Sweden and Poland,
Carl Bildt and Radoslaw Sikorski (respectively), will arrive in Georgia as part
of their trip ahead of the Eastern Partnership Vilnius Summit (November 28-29,
which also includes visits to Moldova and Ukraine, on October 21.
"Sweden and Poland are our friends
and the eastern Partnership was set up on their initiative. In a month, we will
leave for Vilnius Summit to initial the Association Agreement. Those two
ministers have personally contributed to Georgia's advancement to this stage of
EU integration. Their visit a few days before the elections is a serious
support signal," Panjikidze told journalists.
During the visit, Swedish and Polish
Foreign Ministers are expected to meet with Georgian President, Mikheil
Saakashvili and Premier, Bidzina Ivanishvili. Carl Bildt and Radoslaw Sikorski will leave Georgia on October
22.
Presidential elections in Georgia are
scheduled for October 27.
