Head of the Armenian National Congress Faction in the Parliament Levon Zurabyan called on the National Assembly to do everything possible for the members of the Founding
Parliament Movement and the leader of "Tseghakron" party Shant Haroutiunyan to be set free immediately.
"Citizens must not be arrested for their political views. Although the actions of the Founding Parliament was not acceptable to others, all they have civil rights and constitutional freedoms that no one can cancel," Zurabyan said. He urged the parliamentarians to show more interest in the issue and help release Zhirayr Sefilyan, Shant Haroutiunyan, and their teammates.
On April 7, the Investigation Committee of Armenia has disseminated a statement on detention of Artsakh War Hero, coordinator of the Founding Parliament (FP) Zhirayr Sefilyan, members of the FP, Varuzhan Avetisyan, Pavel Manukyan and Sefilyan's brother Toros Sefilyan were detained on suspicion of organizing mass disorders for April 24 2015. The detained members, Pavel Manukyan and Gevorg Safaryan went on hunger strike protesting against their unlawful detention, but stopped it soon after. The Movement seeks to change power in the country.
