At the moment it is the West rather than Russia that can be considered Armenia's ally restraining Azerbaijan and Turkey, Igor Muradyan, well-known analyst, one of the initiators and leaders of the Karabakh movement, has told ArmInfo.
"If Baku decides to start large-scale actions against Armenia and Artsakh with Turkey's support, only the Western community may become the guarantor of our security. If Moscow did not realize that, it would not so actively resist Armenia's integration into the European Union", he stresses.
The analyst believes that Armenia should immediately take advantage of the growing hostility in the Turkey-NATO relations. The failure to use this mechanism will lead the country to an irresolvable situation. Muradyan says that Armenia, along with Georgia, Iran and the Black Sea region, has a certain place in the new strategy of the West.
He thinks that the latest developments in the Middle East also directly demonstrate Tehran's aspiration to restore normal relations with the Western world. After Iran actually becomes the USA's ally in that region, Russia will no more be let into the Middle East.
