The last events in Ukraine and Moldova demonstrate and prove that Russia clings to these countries by all means but does not gain a victory, Ukrainian political expert, Anna Shelest, told Arminfo correspondent during the on:line interview.
"Look at Chisinau's progress in the negotiating process regarding the non-visa regime. Look at the demonstration held in Chisinau on 3 November to support European integration, and at the events happening in all over Ukraine at the Euromaidans today. The point is that neither the population nor the politicians of these two countries want to find themselves in the integration area similar to the USSR", - she said.
She also added that Euromaidan reflects the viewpoint of the majority of those which are not indifferent to the destiny of Ukraine. Euromaidan is not so much for the EU or against the incumbent power, as against the created conditions and decisions imposed upon Ukraine, the expert said. The people which are at Maidan today do not choose between the EU and Russia, they do not counter the EU with Russia.
"Meanwhile, European leaders reiterate that Europe left the door open for Ukraine. Moreover, till 29 November morning there is still a prospect of signing the Association Agreement at the Vilnius summit. A question arises - what else to speak about if Ukraine has already initialed the text? In fact, they are just bargaining if the EU will give more money besides the investments in Ukraine and the promised financial aid", - the expert concluded.
Joint online press conference of experts from various countries for Armenian, Azerbaijani and Georgian mass media on the relevant problems are organized within the project "Expansion of knowledge of Armenians and Azerbaijanis about each other and confidence building through first-hand information". The project of the "Region" Research Center (Armenia) and Peace and Democracy Institute (Azerbaijan) is supported by the British Embassies in Armenia and Azerbaijan.
