Life will continue after the Vilnius summit, Director of the Caucasus Institute, political expert, Aleksandr Iskandaryan, said at today's press-conference.
He said that the project of the EU failed not because of Armenia, but Ukraine. "As for Armenia, the choice is obvious, as it has security problem and any president of Armenia would also adopt the same decision as Serzh Sargsyan adopted in Moscow on 3 September", - the expert said. He also added that Ukraine does not have security problem but it is in front of the problem of the economic collapse, and understanding that, Viktor Yanukovich abandoned to initial the Association Agreement.
At the same time, Iskandaryan thinks that Russia "delayed" imposing pressure upon Moldova, as the events in this country will start developing after the presidential election to be held next year. Experts predict that communists will gain a victory at the presidential election in Moldova. "As for Georgia, Russia has left no tools of pressure. Official Tbilisi lost everything it could lose", - he said.
The expert thinks that in future Europe will not abandon cooperation with Armenia, and official Yerevan will not abandon the EU.
He also emphasized that no serious change will happen in the region. "Full settlement of the conflicts in the South Caucasus region is not beneficial to Russia, but the war is not beneficial either", - he said. Official Moscow will go on remaining an umbrella of security for Armenia, the expert said and added that as soon as Russia leaves Armenia, it will leave the South Caucasus. As for its relations with Azerbaijan, Russia will go on developing them.
