Baku. Today at the Azerbaijan State University of
Languages (ASUL) passes the 2nd Educational Forum of the graduates of the
university with the participation of the Minister of Education of Azerbaijan
Mikail Jabbarov and representatives of the U.S. Embassy. The organizers of the
event are the ASUL American Center, the Public Association of Azerbaijani
Graduates Educated in the United States and the Center of Modern Education and
Training Assistance.
The theme of "Reform of the education
system: issues and proposals" could not be better suited with respect to
the chosen course - the minister said during the opening. "The majority of
graduates can not find jobs in state agencies and foreign companies, where
there are high requirements for English language proficiency. This indicates
that it is time to stop "all-knowing Political Bureau meetings" in
the education system and submit the issue for discussion by the community.
Education and health are nationwide areas
that are not supervised by a separate ministry, agency or non-governmental
organization, but by all branches of government and the specialized
communities. Because the system needs a long-term approach that requires
patience, a positive attitude and tolerance of different generations of
teachers and officials to each other, said Jabbarov. According to him, not in
the last place should be forums with members of the government, local and
foreign scientists, managers and experts, customers - employers, including
private corporations.
The Forum consists of two working
sessions. The first one discussed public participation in the management of
educational institutions, training and development of teaching skills, as well
as a model of cooperation of universities with enterprises. The plan of the
second session includes the development of an inclusive social policy and
education for refugees and internally displaced persons. Moreover, discussed
are the prospects for reform of higher education, as well as an analysis of
logical problems in tests on admission to graduate school.
Today in Azerbaijan there are 51 high schools - 36 public
and 15 private institutions (20 universities under the Ministry of Education,
and the rest are departmental), at which 123,530 people studied in the 2012-13
academic year.
