No lawsuit will be filed against an
Armenian soldier Hakop Injigulyan who fell prisoner in Azerbaijan, Armenia's
Defence Minister Seyran Ohanyan said at today's meeting with students and
teachers of Yerevan State University.
He emphasized that Injigulyan lost his way and found
himself at the Azerbaijani territory. As Armenia does not have direct relations
with Azerbaijan, the ICRC had to mediate, he said and added that at present
they have been negotiating to take Injigulyan back to his native land. "Armenia
has never given trial to the lost servicemen, and Injigulyan will not be an
exclusion", - the minister said. He did not rule out that pressure could
be imposed upon Injigulyan in Azerbaijan, for this reason, the latter was
forced to come forward with an anti-Armenian interview to APA. "His parents reiterated many times that
their son was happy to serve in the Armenian armed forces and had no reason for
making such statements", - Ohanyan said.
To recall, a soldier of the Armenian Armed Forces,
Hakop Injigulyan, lost his way and fell in capture on the night of 7-8
August.
Artsrun Hovhannisyan, spokesperson of the Armenian
Ministry of Defense, has said in a statement that a criminal case has been
initiated on the fact of Hakob Injighulyan's not returning back to his military
postunder Article 365 Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of
Armenia.
"Preliminary investigation findings have not
established corpus delictiin Hakob Injighulyan's actions. It was justified and
proved that Injighulyan appeared on the territory under the protection of the
Azerbaijani forces exceptionally in the result of losing his bearings on the
terrain, and he will not be subject to criminal prosecution upon his repatriation,"
the statement reads.
