Tbilisi. A delegation of the Georgian Defence Ministry (MoD, headed by Minister Irakli Alasania, has left for the USA.
As the Defence Ministry's press-service reports, Irakli Alasania and the delegation, he heads, will start their program in the United States with a visit to Peter Harsch Prosthetic Clinic in San Diego, California, to see Georgian military servicemen and receive the firsthand information on their rehabilitation process.
In the framework of the visit, Irakli Alasania will hold a bilateral meeting with the U.S. Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel in the Pentagon. At the meeting the sides will discuss USA-Georgia bilateral cooperation in the defense sphere and Georgia's NATO membership prospects. Meetings wit high-ranking officials of the White House and the Department of State have been scheduled.
A significant part of the visit will be dedicated to meetings in the United States Senate and the House of Representatives. Irakli Alasania will participate in the Conference organized by the Atlantic Council of the United States. Joseph Biden, Vice President of the United States and John Kerry, United States Secretary of States will participate in the conference along with other high level representatives.
The Defence Minister will also deliver a public speech at the Brooking Institution "Georgia's Euro-Atlantic Aspiration in the Evolving Security Context"
Irakli Alasania will attend the conference, organized by Levan Mikeladze Foundation "Georgia's European Choice: the Role for the USA" and participate in the panel discussion, dedicated to Georgia's Transatlantic Aspirations.
The Defense Minister of Georgia will meet with representatives of influential NGOs and Think Tanks. Meetings are also planned in the United Nations Organization.
