Heritage Party Leader Raffi Hovannisian would not mind seeing a new person and even a woman as President of Armenia.
When asked by ArmInfo whether he will support Prosperous Armenia Party Leader Gagik Tsarukyan's possible candidacy at the elections in 2018, Raffi Hovannisian replied, "I think it is early to speak of the presidential elections. Tsarukyan himself does not mind seeing new persons and is even ready to support another candidacy". Hovannisian urges the public and the politicians to display a serious attitude towards the cooperation of the opposition forces, because the cooperation may develop into a nationwide movement. However, the opposition forces should have full consolidation and a shared vision to increase the influence of the movement, he stressed. Hovannisian also expressed hope that the opposition will clarify its steps and come out with a consensus agenda during the upcoming joint rally scheduled for October 24.
When commenting on the first president of Armenia Levon Ter-Petrosyan's statement that the opponents of Armenia's accession to the Eurasian Economic Union are in nervous convulsions, Hovannisian said that he respects the opinion of all the non-power forces and fully agrees with the need for urgent and complete change of power. In the meantime, he pointed out that he has not heard the Prosperous Armenia Party or the Armenian National Congress Party say whether they are for or against Armenia's accession to the EAEU.
