 The events in Ukraine is a thoroughly planned, organized and financed geo-political operation of the West, president of the Academy for Geo-political Issues (Moscow), Colonel-General, Leonid Ivashov, told "Rhythm of Eurasia". 

"The USA invested $5 billion to directly support Maidan. Another $1 billion were allocated by Ukrainian oligarchs and their partners in abroad. The radical nationalism has become an ideological platform of the "Ukraine" operation and the practical actions were implemented with a help of the fascist revolt. In general, separation of Ukraine from Russia, its using by the military facilities of NATO still remains the priority of western politicians and oligarchs. The initiators of the mutiny in Ukraine had a theory and a strict methodology how to overthrough the legal power", - he said.

Ivashov is confident that the West does not want to see Ukraine as a single state. It wants Ukraine to split at hostile regions just the same way as Yugoslavia.

That is to say, the USA has been striving to implement in Ukraine the so-called "Stabilizing operation" and form a weak state unable to control its own territory...Ivashov is confident that such operations are coordinated by the Security council and US Department of State and enhanced by secret services of US Embassy in Kiev. US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, Victoria Nuland, is responsible for the Ukrainian operation.  She is supported by the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Catherine Ashton. 

"All this is accompanied by blaming Russia and President Putin personally for interference in interior affairs of Ukraine by Obama, Hollande, Merkel and other Western leaders. However, the West did not take everything into consideration, and in particular, unwillingness of the population of the Crimea to recognize the lawless power of Maidan, which has lead to the referendum on joining Russia as an entity. Our country is not interested in split of Ukraine. On the contrary, Russia should gather around itself the Slavs, the peoples of Eurasia, enhance the peoples' community and improve general security system", - Ivashov concluded.
