Kazbegi-Upper Lars border checkpoint on the Russian-Georgian border is shifting from the round-a-clock to the day operation mode beginning from October 12 - North-Ossetian News Portal reported with reference to Alexander Solod, the Head of Press Service of the Border Department of the RF Federal Security Service.

Upper Lars CCP started operating in the round-a- clock mode. At the same time, Kazbegi CCP in Georgia operates from 6 a.m. to 7:p.m. - reads the report.
According to Alexander Solod, on the Georgian side's proposal, from October 12, Lars checkpoint on the Russian-Georgian border will shift onto the daytime operation mode - from 7a.m. till 6 p.m. (Moscow time).
Vehicles will not be allowed on the CCP territory 30 minutes before the end of the operation hours.
Upper Lars checkpoint on the Russian side has 12 driving lanes - 6 at the entry and the same number of driving lanes at the exit. The projected traffic capacity per day makes 2300 people, 30 buses, 170 cars and 200 cargo trucks. At the "Golden Autumn" 16th international exhibition of agricultural products kicked off in Moscow lately Minister of Agriculture of Armenia Sergo Karapetyan raised the issue of ineffective functioning of the Upper Lars checkpoint, which makes it impossible to export goods. The Russian Prime Minister promised to solve the issue as soon as possible.
