The death of Armenian contract soldier Mher Hakobyan on the Line of Contact of the Karabakh-Azeri armed forces is the result of Baku's non- constructive policy, Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan told journalists on Thursday.
"The soldier's death is the result of the fact that our neighbors refuse all the measures aimed at creating an atmosphere of confidence by means of withdrawing the snipers from the Line of Contact, stopping the ceasefire violations, preventing sabotage and reconnaissance activities and conducting international investigation of the incidents", he said.
The Minister added that the international community shuts its eyes to such acts of Azeri aggression and that only the Nagorno-Karabakh Defense Army and the Armenian Armed Forces are independently taking steps to prevent the Azeri sabotage attacks. "I hope the given incident will not remain unpunished", he stressed. He said that Azerbaijan escalates tension on the Line of Contact before each important or each international event.
To note, on September 18, the contract soldier Mher Hakobyan (born in 1990) was killed by Azeris on the Line of Contact of the NKR-Azeri troops. The incident took place at 9:15 am.
