Russia is not going to interfere in the customs officers' activities on the border between Armenia and Karabakh, Andrey Belyaninov, Head of the Russian Federal Customs Service, said at a press conference in Moscow.
According to the Russian media outlets, when asked whether the problem of the customs officers' presence on the Armenian-Karabakh border will be settled following Yerevan's accession to the Eurasian Economic Union, he said that "no presence of customs officers is planned in the near future".
He added that he has recently appointed his representative to Armenia, and the latter will shortly visit the republic and the border, but Russia will not interfere in the activities of the Armenian customs officers. "The key question today is the question of the working language. The Customs Union countries use Russian, and Armenia uses Armenian", said Belyaninov.
The customs problem in the light of Armenia's accession to the EAEU has become more topical after it has become known that the EAEU is waiting for Armenia without Artsakh - within the borders recognized by the UN.
