It is impossible to speak of compromises if Baku rattles the sabre, Vice Speaker of Armenian Parliament, Spokesman for the ruling Republican Party of Armenia Eduard Sharmazanov told journalists on Tuesday.
"Both before and after the Paris meeting of the Armenian and Azeri Presidents, I said that the authorities of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh advocate only peaceful settlement of the conflict. We have never been engaged in shady undertakings, nor have we used militarist rhetoric. Positive changes in the conflict settlement process depend on Azerbaijan only", he said.
In this light, Sharmazanov also stressed the need for official Stepanakert's direct participation in the negotiations. "No radical changes can be registered without it", he said.
As regards French President Francois Hollande's proposal to prepare Armenian and Azeri people for a big peace agreement, which implies mutual concessions, Sharmazanov said that when Azerbaijan presents its possible concessions then Armenia will also publish its intentions. "It is obvious that today Baku does not only fail to speak of compromises but it is also preparing its public to war", said Sharmazanov. He added that under these conditions it is impossible to speak of mutual concessions.
