Tbilisi. The former ruling party of Georgia United National Movement affirms that it is impossible to conduct the second round of elections of mayors and heads of district administrations.

As CEC stated, the second round of the municipal elections would be conducted, supposedly, on July 12 or 13.

"Many subjects appealed against results of the elections  in the court and it is impossible to set the date of the elections earlier than July 19. When we say that the second round will be conducted on July 12 or 15, it means that CEC knows in advance how the court considerations will finish", head of Tbilisi organization of UNM, Tbilisi ex-mayor Gigi Ugulava said on Monday, June 23.

He noted that the exact date of the second round of the elections was to be voiced  on Tuesday.

"In other case, we have a vivid deal between the government and CEC leadership", Ugulava noted.

According to him, setting the date of the elections' second round will give candidates a possibility to conduct comprehensive election campaign, using free air on TV.  "The authorities want to demonstrate by their actions that the second round  means nothing. They have already celebrated their victory and try to make this problem not actual", Ugulava stressed.

On June 15 elections of local councils (sakrebulos), as well as heads of local administrations and mayors of 12 self-governing cities, including Tbilisi, were conducted in Georgia.. 24 electoral entities - four blocs and 20 political parties, stood in the local government elections.

According to preliminary data, the ruling coalition Georgian Dream takes the leading positions, but its candidates could not get absolute majority (50% +1) in eight cities, including Tbilisi, and in 11 districts of the country for the victory in the first round.
