Tbilisi. Giorgi Margvelashvili, the ruling Georgian Dream (GD)
coalition's presidential candidate, will launch his election campaign on
Monday, August 12 - the coalition spokesperson told BLACK SEA PRESS reporter.
The
campaign will be officially launched in Nakalakevi village (Senaki district,
Samegrelo-Zemo (Upper) Svaneti region), at 4:30 p.m., local time. Georgian
Premier, Bidzina Ivanishvili; the Georgian Dream coalition leaders and public
figures, will attend the ceremony.
As
reported, David Saganelidze, a leader of the parliamentary majority group, will
be appointed the head of the campaign office. The coalition, however, refrained
from commenting on this issue.
"We
neither confirm nor deny those reports. Giorgi Margvelashvili will name the
head of the campaign office at the today's event," the coalition
spokesperson said.
Presidential elections in Georgia are
scheduled Official Direct registration of candidates for presidency will begin
on September 7 and will finish on September 27. In order to undergo
registration, a candidate shall collect at least 26.530 thousand signatures
(0.75% of the total number of voters). September 17 is the deadline for
submitting the signatures. Final adjustments can be introduced till September
22.
Registration of the political entities,
nominating their candidates for the president's post, is underway.
