"It is unacceptable to pursue policy of double standards against Azerbaijan." According to APA the President of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev said on June 26 at a joint operational and tactical exercise of the Ministry of Defence, Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and units and detachments of the State Border Service held on the occasion of the 96th anniversary of the establishment of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
President Ilham Aliyev noted that Azerbaijani territories are still under occupation and the Azerbaijani people suffer from this occupation: "For many years, the conflict does not find a solution. Decisions and resolutions of international organizations are not fulfilled. With respect us a policy of double standards is pursued. I have repeatedly expressed my opinion about it. And today once again I want to say that injustice manifested to us is unacceptable. There are four UN Security Council resolutions that demand the unconditional withdrawal of Armenian forces from the occupied lands. 20 years have passed. None of them are fulfilled. The international community indifferently approach to it."
"Unfortunately, the mediators involved in this issue, the OSCE Minsk Group deals with increasing measures of mutual trust, rather than the peaceful settlement of the conflict. Among the measures of mutual trust is the first withdrawal of Armenian forces from the occupied lands, and negotiations should be conducted on the merits. Unfortunately, the mediators make effort not to restore justice but to ensure that there was no war. In this case, Azerbaijan pays and will pay army building even more attention, and if the talks fail, then we will have no other way", - said Supreme Commander-in-Chief.
The Azerbaijan President noted that Azerbaijan does not want war, and the authorities are trying to peacefully resolve the issue: "But we see it is 20 years that this question does not find a solution. Forces trying to keep this issue in the "frozen" state, unfortunately, reach their intentions, their goals. However, we do not want to accept and will not accept this situation. We want peace. But at the same time we want our lands, we want justice. Our demands are justified. Our requirements are based on history, international law and justice. Nagorno Karabakh is the native land of Azerbaijan, historical Azerbaijani land. Azerbaijani people built the infrastructure, established architectural works in Nagorno-Karabakh and elsewhere, are currently under occupation. In Nagorno-Karabakh, all place names, names of villages are Azerbaijani origin. This is our historical land. It always has been so, and today and tomorrow it will be so. The international community recognizes Nagorno-Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan. Nobody ever recognizes the self-proclaimed "Nagorno Karabakh Republic", and Azerbaijan will never allow the establishment of the second fictitious Armenian state on its historical territory. This is our principled position. We will not step back from this position."
