The real purpose of holding off-year parliamentary elections in Turkey is to transfer the country into a presidential government, turcologist Hakob Chkryan has told ArmInfo journalist.
According to the expert, Turkish president Recep Erdogan was the one to inflict the idea of holding off- year parliamentary elections, while PM Ahmet Davudotglu had nothing to do with it.
The elections are to be held on Nov 1. The expert believes that Erdogan seeks his party to take as many parliamentary seats as possible after which they can carry out constitutional reforms on their own.
Chakryan believes Erdogan will fail for his party's rating does not seem to have changed over the past months and he will hardly get more votes. However, he has no way to retreat and he has to continue the course he has taken. The expert thinks that Erdogan also seeks to prevent the Kurdish People's Denocratic Party from getting any seat at parliament. At the moment the Kurdish populated areas of Turkey are in a very chaotic situation. People are being murdered, houses are being burnt down. Erdogan seeks to distract voters' attention.
Chakryan thinks that the Kurdish party will get the votes it needs and will get seats at new parliament
