Russia plays a leading role in the settlement of the Karabakh conflict, Alexander Lukashevich, Russia's Permanent Representative at the OSCE told Russia-24 TV.
He said the Vienna meeting as an attempt to agree with the presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan through the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs (Russia, France, US) gave a certain impetus to the process, but Russia has a bigger potential here.
Lukashevich said he does not anticipate any breakthrough solutions with the current visit by OSCE CiO, German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier to Baku and Yerevan.
In his words, the chairperson-in-office plays an important role indeed, but it is not a driving force, while the Minsk Group with the three co-chairs is.
OSCE CiO, German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier is visiting the South Caucasus region June 29 - July 1.
