Tbilisi. Georgian President, Mikheil Saakashvili, says he
disagrees with Georgian Premier Bidzina Ivanishvili's opinion regarding
Georgia's responsibility for the developments in August 2008.
"I heard that Russia is an aggressor
and that is the right thesis...But, at the same time, it was said that certain
responsibility for that war also rested upon the Georgian side...I am
categorically against the allegations that Georgia is somehow responsible for
the war 2008," - Georgian President, Mikheil Saakashvili, stated at the
reception on board of the USS Bulkeley, that was making a four-day port call in
Batumi, on August 11. Georgian Premier, Bidzina Ivanishvili, and some Georgian
government members were also present.
"The one, who says it, either does
not love Georgia or has other kind of problems or is in alliance with Georgia's
enemy. Hope, you are not in the alliance with Georgia's enemy and you realize
your responsibility," Georgian President stressed. In his words, in August
2008, "Georgian soldiers defended their motherland and that's what
responsibility means".
Speaking
at the oath-taking ceremony in Gori town, on August 8, Georgian Premier,
Bidzina Ivanishvili, claimed that in August 2008, Russia had carried out
aggression, but the Georgian side also has had its share of responsibility for
those developments.
