Azerbaijan has always demonstrated balance in its relations with Russia as well as the West. And if after Vladimir Putin's visit to Baku this balance is broken, in that case, rapprochement of Azerbaijan with Russia may create problems with the West in future, Armenian political expert, Levon Shirinyan, said at today's press-conference.
"The official Russia is Armenia's strategic partner. But history knows many examples how Russia used to sacrifice Armenia's interests when it was distributing Armenian lands in its own interests. In this context, the Russian-Azerbaijani cooperation and, in particular, the visit by president of Russia to Baku should cause certain anxiety, but not fear, of Yerevan", - he said.
He thinks that Russian president's visit to Baku should be treated normally as a part of relations between these countries. But the point is that Russian geo-political maneuvering in the region brings not only positive fruits, but also damages. Putin's visit made not only Yerevan to worry, but other neighbouring states as well. For instance, Turkmenistan and Iran, which also have problems in their relations with Baku, the expert said.
