The Public Chamber of Russia is going to amend the
bill on penalization of the Holocaust denial and introduce a provision on the
Armenian Genocide, Denis Dvornikov, member of the Public Chamber of Russia,
said at today's Yerevan-Moscow TV bridge.
He said that the given bill has been submitted to the
Public Chamber of Russia, however, the members of the Chamber think that it is
necessary to introduce a provision on penalization of the denial of all crimes
against humanity, including the Armenian Genocide. In this context, Dvornikov
has invited Vladimir Zakharov, Deputy Director of the Caucasus Research Center
at the Moscow State University of International Relations, to discuss the given
amendments. Vladimir Zakharov, expert in genocide studies, as well as Rouben
Safrastyan, Director of the Oriental Studies Institute of the Armenian national
Academy of Sciences, and Hayk Demoyan, Head of the Armenian Genocide Museum
Institute, have expressed their willingness to provide their support in
elaboration of the bill.
Dvornikov said that Armenians suffer wherever a
conflict outbreaks, the way it was in Azerbaijan, Abkhazia and Syria.
To note, the fact of the Armenian Genocide committed
in the Ottoman Empire in 1915 has been recognized by Uruguay, Russia, France,
Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Poland, Lithuania, Slovakia, Sweden,
Switzerland, Greece, Cyprus, Lebanon, Canada, Venezuela, Argentina, Chile,
Vatican. It has also been recognized by the European Parliament and the World
Council of Churches. 42 US States have officially recognized and condemned the
