The special operation of retrieval of the bodies of the Nagorno-Karabakh Mi-24 helicopter pilots has demonstrated that the Armenian army can take specific steps and many countries can envy them, Gagik Minasyan, MP from the ruling Republican Party of Armenia, said at today's press conference in Yerevan.
Minasyan pointed out that the international community gave an inadequate response to the downing of the helicopter. It came out with no-address statements, while the aggression was displayed by Baku. In this light, Minasyan stressed that Azerbaijan will continue committing such graves crimes until the international community points at the specific aggressor and gives clear assessment to what has happened. "Consequently, the world community should come to its senses and understand that resumption of armed hostilities in the NKR will affect the global situation, because it will lead to tangible economic losses", he said.
He added that it is not because of the Armenian Foreign Ministry's flaws that the international structures and superpowers are making no-address statements.
The Azerbaijani armed forces downed an Armenian Mi-24 while it was conducting a training flight near the Line on Contact on 12 November. Three officers of the NKR Armed Forces, Sergey Sahakyan, Sargis Nazaryan and Azat Sahakyan, were on board. The Azeri officer that shot the helicopter down has been awarded a medal. On 22 November, the NKR Defense Army Special Forces recovered the body of a crewmember and the remains of the two pilots of Mi-24 helicopter that was downed by Azerbaijani forces on 12 November. The necessary wreckage was recovered too. Two Azerbaijani militaries were killed in the course of the special operation. The NKR Defense Army suffered no losses.
