ARFD Faction will not participate in voting on nominee for the parliament speaker. Head of the Faction Armen Rustamyan told reporters it is their compelling stand and they have nothing against Galust Sahakyan, the nominee offered by the Republican Party, Saturday.
According to Rustamyan, ARFD's vote will change nothing, as everything is predetermined. He highlighted some positive features of Galust Sahakyan as a political figure, particularly, his ability to settle disputable issues and his rich political experience. Rustamyan said that the four non-coalition parties have no consensus on participation in the voting.
As for the views that the second president Robert Kocharyan's minions again occur in the government, Rustamyan said that Kocharyan's minions have never left the political arena. "Look around! Everyone is from Kocharyan's team. Look at our president, who is he, if not Kocharyan's appointee," he said.
The parliament speaker will be elected today through closed voting. A source at the Republican Party told ArmInfo Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan has arrived in the parliament and is having a meeting with Vice Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov and Galust Sahakyan. Ex-prime minister Tigran Sargsyan also visited the parliament earlier today.
