The Russian President has promised to consider Levon Hayrapetyan's case, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan said in an interview to Armnews.
Sargsyan said that he told Putin about the case during their meeting in Sochi. "He promised to consider the case, especially the questions concerning Hayrapetyan's health," Sargsyan said.
On Aug 13 a court in Moscow is supposed to consider a petition to review the preventive measure against Armenian businessman Levon Hayrapetyan in view of his poor health conditions.
Hayrapetyan was arrested in Russia on July 16 on suspicion of being privy to the activities of the notorious Kingisep criminal group. The Russian special services are currently investigating the case of Sergey-Finagin's Kingisepp group, which together with Alexander Matusov's Schelkovo gang, is believed to have done a number of contract killings first for businessman Georgy Safiyev (killed in the United States) and then for former Senator Igor Izmestyev (who is now in jail for life). And it was Izmestyev who said that Hayrapetyan was privy to some of the killings, particularly, those related to the Bashneft oil company.
