Maybe the four oppositional parties are able to settle some problems, but their union will hardly last long, says Sergey Minasyan, Deputy Head of the Caucasus Institute, told reporters, Tuesday.
He said the four parties have managed to implement the minimum program i.e. they achieved resignation of Tigran Sargsyan's government. However, the problem is that these political forces have fundamentally different approaches to the final goal - power change in the country. "For instance, two of these four parliamentary factions (Prosperous Armenia and ARFD - editor's note) have no intention to demand resignation of the president, while Heritage Party and Armenian National Congress seek the president's resignation, but have no sufficient resources for that," Minasyan said.
According to the political expert, Prosperous Armenia Party, the leading power of "the union of the four," has softened its rhetoric following Tigran Sargsyan's stepping down as prime minister and Hovik Abrahamyan's appointment to that post.
"PAP has taken a break. It is evident that active discussions will be held now to find alternative ways of cooperation between the PAP and the ruling Republican Party," he said. Minasyan thinks a similar scenario is possible also in the case of ARFD.
