Shant Haroutiunyan, Leader of Tseghakron Party, is to undergo forensic psychiatric expert examination, in line with the November 19 decision of the General Court of the Center and Nork-Marash Administrative Districts in Yerevan. The Investigation Agency made a relevant petition to the Court earlier on the same day.
Haroutiunyan was taken to the Nubarashen Psychiatric Clinic for a period of two months directly from the Court hall. Meanwhile, in compliance with the legislation of Armenia, a forensic psychiatric expert examination is to be carried out within 24 days.
Shant Haroutiunyan was arrested after mass public disorders on 5 November under a slogan "I am starting revolution." The protests grew into clashes with the police. Explosives were used as well.
After the post-election incidents in 2008, Shant Haroutiunyan was arrested over the 'case of the seven' for organizing mass unrest. He was set free in 2009 after the experts of the Health Ministry issued a resolution saying that at the moment of the crime Shant Haroutiunyan was insane.
