Member of Turkish "International Bridge" association, Prof at Medical Faculty of Dokuz Eylul University Cem Terzi has told the journalists during a press conference in Yerevan that the Turkish society is ripening for the recognition of the Armenian Genocide.
Though only 9% of the Turkish society favour the recognition of the Armenian Genocide, the expert does believe that there is a movement starting which will put president Erdogan and his government under pressure and compel them to recognize the crimes committed by their ancestors. "Our society is constantly "fed" on propaganda, the new generation does not know the truth, however, the young are interested in it and everything will rapidly change quite soon", he forecasts.
According to Terzi, the Turkish government keeps committing the Armenian Genocide by denying it. He believes it to be Turkey's historic duty to recognize the Armenian Genocide and Turkey is to pay this debt. "We do not want to become a part of the crime that was committed 100 years ago, we do not want to live a lie, we do need the truth which will make a good beginning for the Armenian-Turkish relations", he said. H has also mentioned that there should be no territorial issue in these relations for that will only deteriorate the situation. "I do hope one day humanity will renounce borders and governments and will realize that people are more important than territories", he said.
