Tbilisi. Presentation of a new Georgian-Russian dictionary
will be held at Tbilisi Javakhishvili State University (TSU) library (located
in the University's first block), on Tuesday, October 22 - TSU press service
reported on October 21.
Containing 58,5thousand words, a 772-page
dictionary is larger than those, ever published before.
"The issue of creating the
Georgian-Russian dictionary was raised as early as in 70s, at Chikobava
Institute of Linguistics. An editorial group was set up. The work on this
publication resumed a few years ago. The lexis was revised because of the
historical changes - communist-period lexis was either removed or adjusted. At
the same time, new lexis appeared," reads the report.
The dictionary does not include personal
names, scientific and technical terms, slang or vulgar words.
The presentation is scheduled for 3 p.m.
