Throwing coins at ministers as a sign of protests is infringement of their rights, outrage and anarchy, Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan said in the Government on 26 June charging the law-enforcement to protect the rights of the government officials. Earlier, a group of citizens that picketed the parliament building protesting against a scandalous bill on funded pension threw coins at Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan and Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Artyom Asatryan.
The prime minister called such display of protest as infringement of human rights. "I advocate for democracy, freedom of speech, freedom of expression, and the right to peaceful assemblies. I will be advocating for these rights till the very end. Nevertheless, freedom ends when the rights of others are infringed. This is nothing but outrage and anarchy, which is inadmissible," the prime minister said.
He charged the Justice Minister and the Police Head to study the given issue and submit their decisions. "If necessary, invite your European colleagues, learn their experience and hold training, do everything necessary to protect the public order and constitutional rights," Abrhamyan said.
It is noteworthy that the ministers that suffered from the actions of activists refused to comment reporters on the situation. The minister said they have told everything to the prime minister.
