Denmark national football team dispelled Armenia's dream of 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil after Armenia vs. Denmark football match in Yerevan ended 0:1 overnight.
Liverpool's Daniel Agger scored the only goal of the match on the 73rd minute after Varazdat Haroyan committed a foul against Denmark's Viktor Fischer in the penalty area and was sent off the pitch after a second yellow card in the match.
Missing a number of key players, including defender Robert Arzumanyan and striker Yura Movsisyan, Armenia proved less menacing in attacking play, failing to materialize the few chances that came by its way in what was a mostly even match.
After the defeat Armenia still preserves chances to finish in a playoff spot but will need victories in the remaining two matches, hoping for favorable results in other fixtures.
"I am grateful to my team for their play vs. Denmark as they displayed will in a complicated situation and managed to play remaining ten on the pitch. I can say only good words. We did not yield to Danish players with our initiatives. Team plays as good as the rival allows it do to. We have balance both in attack and defense. We show a team play," Minasyan said.
Morten Olsen, Denmark football coach, in turn, said that his team controlled the game from the very beginning and won in good grace, though playing vs. such strong teams like the Armenian team success would be not out of place.
Next, Vardan Minasyan's side hosts Bulgaria on October 11 before traveling for the last group qualifier against Italy on October 15.
