The Armenian Parliament approved on Wednesday the first reading of draft amendments to the law on reproductive health and reproductive human rights.
Chairman of the Standing Parliamentary Committee on Health Care Ara Babloyan says that the current law allows women aged 18-35 to be substitute mothers, but for women aged 18- 25 this may prove to be stressful. So, the amendments suggest changing the surrogacy age to 25-35.
Besides, they stipulate that a woman wishing to become a substitute mother should have at least one child of her own. "This requirement is in force in many developed countries," says Babloyan.
