The Armenian National Congress (ANC) is actively
negotiating with Prosperous Armenia Party the possibility of cooperation during
the May 5 elections into Yerevan's Elders Council, Deputy Chairman of the ANC
Levon Zurabyan told journalists on Thursday.
"We have contacted with Prosperous Armenia and
the ARFD and have held four rounds of talks with Heritage. We believe that
jointly we will be able to prevent the regime from rigging the ballot and
securing more than 40% of the votes. If we do it, we will be able to form a
coalition and to take the Municipality from their hands," Zurabyan said.
He said that the opposition's victory will solve six
tasks: weaken the regime, restore the people's control over political
processes, create a system of counterbalance to the regime, reduce corruption
on the municipal level, launch a new civilized struggle for power and improve
the business climate.
