Baku. Azerenerji plans to launch a new thermal power
station in Azerbaijan.
The Azerenerji press office reported that
the Canub thermal power station will soon be operational. "Adjustment
works are currently in progress. As soon as the power station is put into
operation, the potential of the power system will improve," Azerenerji
reported. Construction of the Canub
power station in Shirvan city, 140 km south of Baku, started on December 24,
2007. Azerenerji stated during laying of the foundation, that the station's
capacity will be 780 MWt. The performance factor of the station will correspond
to world standards. 237 grams of conditional fuel will be consumed to generate
1 kwh of power (during 6 months in 2012, an average 313.2 grams of conditional
fuel was consumed to generate 1 Kwh of power in the power stations of
Azerenerji). The advantage of the Canub station is that it will run on three
types of fuel - black oil, gas and diesel fuel. Over a year, 780 million cub.m.
of natural gas or 650,000 tons of black oil will be saved. The power station is
able to generate about 6 billion kwh of power a year. The power station will consist of turbines, a
gas compressor, an administrative office
building, swimming pool, parking lot, park, fire station, substations with 110,
220 and 330 Kv power, water cleaning unit, pump station, tanks, transformers
etc. The power station is planned to be launched this year. It was built by the
Azerbaijani Azenko company. The total
cost of the project is over 600 million Euros.
The new power station will supply power to
the southern regions of Azerbaijan (reducing the dependence of the Absheron
peninsula on the Mingechavir power station) as well as improve efficiency of
the energy transmitting systems.
